Civilians

Overview

In a world besieged by warring robots and the struggle for global dominance, there are those who wait on the sidelines, stepping in as needed to assist or repel. Comprised of humans and unaligned reploids, the civilian factor can be quite powerful indeed, and should not be overlooked. From it can spring the heroes and villains talked about in ancient legends, and perhaps the key to ending this bitter struggle may one day be found there -- only time will tell.

Striders

The Striders are a very old clan of ninja-mercenaries. Much of Strider lore is lost to the ages, but much of that is irrelevant to how they function in this day and age. A Strider is a human with exceptional physical potential, from some combinations of natural shifts, heredity, and simple natural luck, trained in such a way that brings out that potential. Some of the Strider lore that does survive, however, conflicts with this, saying that the Striders as they are today are all descended from one single Strider, fighting a great, terrible evil millennia ago.

Though some Striders get into the organization simply by being born to a member, many are found with the potential who were not, as the genes can skip several generations and go dormant for years. The first part of the training, once you are noticed by- or notice- the Striders, is often the most difficult; it is this that determines whether or not you have the potential to become a full Strider.

The Striders have undergone a series of breakups and rough times in recent years; first spurred by differences in methodology and jobs taken between Matic, Kain, and their respective lieutenants, and more recently generated by differences in morality and belief systems permeating the entire organization.

The names of the two new organizations are different than those of the first split. The Black Dragon Striders are the independant 'good guys', and the White Dragon Striders, allies to Neo Arcadia and Umbrella, are the more ethically nebulous of the two organizations. To indicate their advanced ability beyond normal humans, Striders, White or Black, have the E-human racetype.

Other Groups

If you're a Civilian, and not a member of one of the major civilian groups, you are Unaffiliated. This includes practically everybody in the civilian world: criminals, freedom fighters, and most importantly everyday people. Character possibilities are pretty much unlimited, but there are a few unaffiliated organizations that bear mentioning.

Applesoft: The world's largest manufacturer of computers, AppleSoft was formed from the merger of Microsoft and Apple Computers more than a century ago. A leading technology magnate, its effects are felt in almost all sectors of industry.

GNN: The Global News Network is a world-wide independent news agency. Known for their cutting-edge reporting and their fearless news staff, they are regarded as the worldwide leaders in news. All manner of news programs fall under their banner, from front-line reporting to simple talk shows.

POX: Rival news network to GNN, with a much smaller share in the news market, known sometimes as a shock-and-schlock news organization.

Disney Universe: What was once the state of Florida is now the happiest place on Earth. The Disney Corporation, a massive and ancient entertainment industry, has turned the state into a small country of their own, dedicated to entertaining the world. They have an iron grip over most of the entertainment industry, and have practically their own government in Florida, as well as their own security force. The Universe encompasses all of Florida, and most of Alabama and Georgia.

Eurasia: A peaceful, self-governed space colony that has recently made efforts to become a full part of the United Nations after a few years of acrimonious opposition to the world government.

San Angeles: An independent city-state that takes up most of what used to be California, San Angeles broke free from the USA after the Robot Master onslaught of 2200. Once it was a neutral state, but after it was hit with a Force Metal bomb in early 2219, it is an anarchic area being fought over by the Repliforce and Neo Arcadia.

HeraCorp: A booming Reploid-production company, known for clean and ethical practices in Reploid building.

Madison, Inc. and Able Robotics Company: Three other corporations in the booming technology industry, responsible for some of the major robotics and weapons lines of the day.

Bara Corporation: The inventors of the Bioroid and still the largest manufacturers of same. Mid-sized, based in Neo-Tokyo.

Capcom: A former electronics company, this ancient Japanese business is involved in numerous industries, and is one of Japan's most widespread names, with product all over Neo-Tokyo, and much advertising capital invested in GNN.
