Megaman MUSH

Consensual Death

You spent days working on the application. Weeks or months role-playing the character. Yet you have made a mistake, and now you are faced with termination, death, or whatever may equate as such for your character. Fear not! For death at MegaMan MUSH is consensual in nature!

The admin and players are all sympathetic to the fact that you have spent a lot of time and effort on your particular character, as such, they are hard to just throw away and start over from scratch. So when applicable we will do everything within our power to find a way to save/revive them if there's any possible way -- even if it's a far-fetched or unlikely explanation.

However, this does not mean that there are no IC consequences for your actions or that you can do whatever you like because you OOCly know that your character will not be nuked. There are times when there's no other choice but to terminate a character, and you should be aware of them.

Termination in this case means that if you are an OC, you will be removed from the character, and the OC will be nuked. If you are a FC and get into this situation, you will be removed from the character, and the FC will be considered heavily damaged for repair for the next player.

Some situations in which you can ICly die follow. While as stated, these are only some situations, and in most cases, even these will be reviewed on a case by case basis by both the admin of the faction of the character captured, and the admin of the faction that did the capturing.

1) If you sell out your faction, defect, or otherwise turn against your teammates, you will lose consensual death unless it is part of a pre-planned TinyPlot that has been approved. In other words, don't even bother trying to join the other side without talking to staff, or you'll end up dead. (See defection for further information on defecting.)

2) Suicide missions. If you charge into the Wily Star as a Mav Hunter with a bomb strapped to your chest and expect to live, then you are a fool. Infiltrators captured within enemy bases will be reviewed on a case by case basis to determine sentence. (See infiltration for further information.)

3) If you go rogue and start attacking your own teammates, do not expect to be shown much mercy by the staff. This is a war after all, and those that go out of their way to harm their own fellow soldiers generally end up dead.

4) You decide to kill off your own character. At your own consent, your character can drop dead at any point and not come back. This is the most common way for a character to die -- player request! This, however, does not apply to suicides, which are frowned-upon. If you attempt to kill yourself in a graphic manner, the death will probably be removed completely as matter of public record, and your death will go on file as death by having a soda machine falling on you or something else as equally ridiculous.

Keep in mind the golden rule of consensual death is this: use common sense and you will most likely stay alive longer. If you have a question on what the consequences of an action you take may bring, feel free to ask the staff. Non-consensual death will not simply occur out of the blue. You will be given a chance to review and recommend ways out of your situation, and the staff will also review your case. So just use your best judgement, be aware that you can lose consensual death, and all should go well.
