Defection
Disclaimer: The OOC portions of these rules do not apply to the introduction of new FCs, or newly-apped OCs.
General rules:
1. You need the approval of three people to defect. They are:
-The administrator of the faction you are leaving.
-The administrator of the faction you are joining.
-One of (or all of) the facheads of the faction you are joining.
2. You may need a TP to join officially. These do not have to be large, and the requirement varies; a civilian joining the Repliforce may not need anything beyond a little swearing-in scene with an officer, while a Repliforce officer joining the Mavericks will likely require a plot.
3. You must submit a defection application to the app boxes for both the faction you are leaving and the faction you are joining. You must have this APPROVED before beginning the plot.
4. Robot Masters of the FC variety are hardcoded never to betray the faction, and may never defect. Robot Masters permit OCs who defect in to the faction. This is the only way to have an OC in the Robot Master faction, as Robot Master OCs may not be apped directly. Robot Master OCs who defect in to the faction may, in some circuimstances, also defect out.
5. It is possible, but very rare, to defect out of the Maverick faction. Defection from this faction in particular may result in loss of condeath. See news condeath and news mavericks for more information.
6. Remember that defection approval is not automatic. Please do not take it personally if your request is sent back for revision or rejected. Defections are meaningful and important, and thus, not common.
Civilians:
When a character defects into the Civilian faction, their stats, abilities, and attacks will be downgraded by the civilian wizard to fit a non-military standard when appropriate. This may not happen if the character is joining a civilian subfaction with some access to military equipment, such as the Irregulars.
Hunters:
You are asked to join the Hunters; no other method is allowable. A certain amount of OOC discussion and expression of interest may be done, if neccessary; if an offer is extended ICly, you are not required to accept it. An invitation will require several notable events in your RPed history (as opposed to unplayed backstory) and is at Hunter discretion.
Hunters are strongly discouraged from defecting to the Mavericks.
Mavericks:
Read through news mavericks; these apply to all Mavericks. Joining the Mavericks is generally permanent, as you are joining the enemies of the present world order. Becoming a Maverick is often a good reason to change your character's name (with staffer approval).
Repliforce:
Repliforce has a standard that all recruits must meet, physically, emotionally and mentally. Only reploids and bioroids may join Repliforce proper; STARS, however, is capable of accepting humans and cyborgs.
It is possible to defect from more than one faction over time, if it obeys the rules above. Generally, defections should have a long period between them.
Examples:
Civilian -> Repliforce -> Hunter
Repliforce -> Hunter -> Maverick
Hunter -> Repliforce -> Civilian
It is possible to 'defect backwards' if the faction will take you back. This will depend on your behavior and the nature of your departure. No real approval is neccessary to become a civilian, but you are likely to have your heavier weapons impounded.
Defection Application
1. Why do you want to defect? Give both IC and OOC reasons why you wish to leave your current faction AND join the new one. These should be as specific as neccessary.
2. What changes, if any, will the defection have in the character's personality and interactions with others? Give as much detail as neccessary.
3. What changes, if any, will be made in the character's +finger and stats? (You should probably rewrite your profile in this situation.) Justify any alterations in combat abilities or new abilities as per an attack application.
4. Describe your plan for the defection, including an outline of any significant plot elements.
When finished, send this to BOTH the app box for the faction you are presently in AND the faction you intend to join. Thank you for your time!
