Hunters

The Basics

The Hunters are a group initially created primarily to do battle against the Coalition for Reploid Freedom, otherwise known as the Mavericks. As the world has changed, however, the Hunters have found themselves doing battle with the Robot Masters, the Yakuza and other forces of evil in the world.

The Hunters are led primarily by Doctor Light, with Signas acting as the main military strategist for the organization. Rock (more commonly known as Mega Man), with the help of his best friend Zero, are the champions of the group. As a rule of thumb, the Hunters are the best of the best. They are the specialists and the ones best trained to do their jobs. They also are completely unaffiliated with any government, country, or military entity; which allows them to operate outside such restrictions and do what needs to be done to protect lives and freedom.

The Ranks

While there is some structure to the Hunters, it is a very fluid structure which allows for rapid adaptation to circumstances. Mission teams are usually created on the fly depending on the situation. Hunters achieve their positions generally by consensus and recognition of skill. Insubordination is considered unacceptable, and loyalty to the group is paramount to the cause. As such, any Hunter who deliberately endangers the lives of others will be dealt with harshly. Also, while 'gumbies' certainly exist to take care of the daily maintenance of the faction, no member of the Hunters is considered expendable or a mere tool, insofar as the group is concerned (of course, this doesn't mean your character individually might not like another Hunter).

The Sigma Virus

The Hunters regularly come into contact with those who carry the Sigma Virus. Some Hunters are naturally immune to the Sigma Virus for various reasons, but the majority are just as vulnerable as anyone else. While their dedication to the cause provides them with some resistance, it is still a constant danger for Hunters. As a result, extensive quarantine and testing procedures are in place that all Hunters have to go through after extended exposure to Mavericks to ensure everyone's safety.

OOCly, Hunter characters who want to get the Sigma Virus should consult the Hunter wizard before doing any infection RP. As this can cause serious disruption in the flow of the group, this will be examined with some scrutiny on the part of the administration.

Relations with other Factions

Robot Masters and Mavericks: The Hunters hunt the members of these groups; groups they view as the embodiement of oppression and evil. While the Mavericks are a natural enemy of the Hunters, the plans of the Robot Masters to dominate the world also require the attention of the Hunters.

Civilians: The primary goal of the Hunters is to protect these (mostly) innocent bystanders. While individual Hunters may have different feelings towards civilian humans or reploids, the Hunters exist to protect them. Self-sacrifice is generally not mandated by the organization -- people who become Hunters don't need to be told how to be a hero.

Repliforce: The Hunters typically find themselves forced to act outside legal means and government-sanctioned activities. This can sometimes make life difficult for the Repliforce, who tend to keep things very by the book. At times, this tension can lead to periods of non-alignment between the two groups. However, after a few catastrophic incidents in which the fate of the world was almost sealed by their fighting, both organizations are very hesitant to get into serious conflicts with each other.

Guidelines

To start, please check on the Hunter recruitment room for up-to-date information regarding Overdone/Underdone themes for characters.

Due to the IC responsibilities expected of Hunters, players applying for FC or OC Hunter characters will be expected to be able to RP accordingly. While most Hunters are fighters, a variety of functions are necessary to balance the factions, such as medics or communications specialists; any such characters are similarly expected to display a high quality of RP.

Defecting from the Hunters is -NOT- allowed without explicit permission of the faction's wizard and the wizard of the faction the characters wishes to defect to. Because becoming a Hunter is such a difficult process ICly, characters are expected to have weighed such matters beforehand. In other words, the Hunters aren't likely to admit those who have doubts or reservations.
