Mavericks

Born from the ashes of the original Maverick movement and the Irregulars, the Mavericks are a terrorist organization devoted to reploid supremacy and the elimination of the human race. No mask of civility is used to hide this genocidal ideology: the Mavericks feel that humanity's time is over, and the time of the reploid is now. Who do the Mavericks attract? Powerful reploids with a hate-on for humanity, reploid killers willing to do whatever it takes. There are no illusions of being good... the Mavericks have embraced the fact that their actions are considered evil by most of the world. Their dream is simple: a reploid state and the downfall of humanity.

By any means necessary.

The Maverick cause is refreshingly free of politics, public relations, and diplomacy. What they want are warriors, brave souls who can be the reploid army that finally brings them their dream of a reploid-only world. Most reploids are going to be warriors of some kind or another, stealth operatives, soldiers, or dangerous cybercriminals.

The Mavericks are still open to full-conversion cyborgs joining their ranks, but they have no source of them for their own uses. Any cyborg applicants should be humans who have already undergone a complete cyborg conversion and joined afterwards. Be warned: the Mavericks have no real doctors any more, and cyborgs tend to be treated as second-class citizens, at best.

The Mavericks are currently accepting both FC and OC apps. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Scorpio, the Maverick admin, for guidance, help with applying, and general Maverick stuff.

The Coalition For Reploid Freedom

The original Mavericks, the Coalition for Reploid Freedom, were born in the early years of the Robot Wars. Sigma, disenchanted by the Repliforce, struck out on his own with the eight original Mavericks: Boomer Kuwanger, Flame Mammoth, Launch Octopus, Flame Stag, Morph Moth, Crush Crawfish, Neon Tiger, and Armored Armadillo. With the help of Dr. Doppler, they activated a programming backdoor in the reploid OS and created the Maverick Virus, using the threat of it as a terror weapon for more than a decade.

In 2215, the Mavericks conquered and razed much of Europe, and the city of Berlin became the capital of a mechanoids-only continent. For the first time, humans joined the Maverick ranks, willing and unwilling converts who were turned into full-conversion cyborgs by Maverick scientists.

In 2217, Berkana discovered that the Maverick virus was really not a virus at all. With her research, Gate and Dr. Light ended its threat, marking the beginning of the end for the Mavericks. That fall, Protoman destroyed Sigma with a Stardroid-based weapon. Dr. Doppler recovered what was left of his child and rebuilt him. Reborn but dangerously insane, Sigma was the host of a new virus, the Sigma Virus: everything the original Maverick Virus was claimed to be.

Things fell apart over the next two years. The forces of good drove them Europe, and their resources were squandered on frivolous superweapons. Drs. Light and Cain cured the Sigma Virus, ending their one true remaining threat. Finally, Lumine, a creation of Gate, staged a coup and drove Sigma from their ranks. The founder of the Coalition met his end under Axl's guns in Australia, and Lumine took his virus-ridden core into itself, assuming total control of the Mavericks.

The Irregulars

In hiding and at a fraction of their original strength, Lumine's Mavericks found shelter with the Irregulars, a subversive group led by Epsilon, one of Sigma's brothers. Epsilon, nearly killed first by Protoman, then by what were apparently Australian soldiers, was forging the Irregulars into a group much like the Mavericks, more open to humanity, but only if they would cast away their flesh and become machines like reploids were.

Lumine bided his time for months under Epsilon's rule, but in the end, he used Epsilon as a stepping stone to regain power once more. Consolidating his power and allies, Lumine and his surviving Mavericks, with the help of the more hardline elements of the Irregulars, took functional control of the group as Epsilon brooded, and struck out on their own.

They tried unsuccessfully to destroy Australia, leaving the Irregular base open for assault... an assault which claimed the life of Epsilon. The surviving Irregulars fragmented, some staying with Lumine's group, some going underground, and yet others finding new homes with Repliforce, LEGIONS, and the Hunters.

Lumine, not content to rest on his laurels, launched the reploid city Able 2 into space, making it the new base of the Maverick movement, keeping it in space and away from the prying eyes of its enemies.

This is where the Mavericks are today, secure in their spaceborne fortress city, striking out against a world that righteously hates and fears them.
